 Jesus with children

“You are the Light of the World. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven”

Matthew 5: 14, 16

The Canadian Mar Thoma Church Toronto is a parish of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church, Kerala, India and a partner in the Universal Church.

We proclaim and celebrate the gospel of Jesus Christ in worship and action.

We value our Christian Heritage, Tradition, rich Liturgy, Eucharistic Worship, Sacraments and deep Faith in the Holy Scriptures.

We strive to live out God’s command to “love one another as I loved you “ by reaching out to those in need.

We, as members of His Body are committed to respond to His Commission “to make disciples of all peoples” through evangelical missions and personal evangelization.

Our mission is to bring Glory to God.

Our Heritage

“Mar Thoma Church is an autonomous, indigenous, Episcopal and Evangelical Church founded in 52 AD by St. Thomas, one of the Apostles of Jesus Christ”*.

Thomas the Apostle was prepared to die with Jesus, but later, refused to believe in the risen Christ, until he touched His wounds. History and tradition provide substantial evidence that he traveled to India, converted Brahmins in Malabar Coast, Kerala, in to Christian faith and suffered martyrdom in 72 AD at Mylapore, Madras.  The St. Thomas Christians (the Mar Thomites)  trace their ancestry to the first Syrian Christian Church on Malabar coast.
